The Criança do Café na Escola (Child of Coffee at School) program aims to introduce schools of the coffee communities into the digital world, allowing a large number of children in the rural zone to have the same opportunities of knowledge access as the children in major urban centres. Collaborating with the quality of education, we believe that we are contributing to decrease the rural exodus and establishing man on the land.
Historic and current activities
The Project has begun on 2004 and currently has 137 digital laboratories installed in 6 states of Brazil. The program has predicted structure for one completed computer lab equipped with ten computers, computer equipment and related school supplies. Each digital room was arranged in partnership with one Cecafé associated exporter or an industry entity. The choice of the benefited municipality is usually made by an associated exporter of Cecafé, which has an affiliate or trade coffee in the region and for its practical expertise knows its local needs.
Since 2015, the project decided to focus its efforts in the modernization of its existing rooms and the expansion of its pedagogical performance and for the community around the schools through the utilization of Cecafé’s digital rooms.
Program Audience
The public assisted by the Criança do Café na Escola (Child of Coffee at School) program is composed by young students and children of public pre-schools, elementary and middle schools from coffee communities, and in many cases its own school teachers. Some schools open its digital room for the community around.
